This news comes on the heels of another two major endorsements by the League of Conservation Voters and the Sierra Club. These endorsements are further evidence of Saqib’s commitment to progressive values.

I am a dedicated supporter of Saqib Ali’s campaign for Maryland State Senate because representatives like him give my family and my community a strong voice in the Maryland legislative process. As a student in Montgomery County, I am very active in community clubs and encourage other students to be active as well. Delegate Ali has been endorsed by the Montgomery County Youth Slate for the special attention he has given to the growing youth community in our county. He introduced legislation that would have given the Student Member on the Maryland Board of Education full voting rights, which would have been a major step forward for students in our state (HB 1287). Unfortunately, Saqib’s opponent introduced legislation that would have stripped the Montgomery County Member of the Board of Education of certain voting rights (MC 709-07).
As an immigrant from Burma, I value diversity in Montgomery County. Like me, Delegate Ali comes from a family of immigrants and he understands the importance of uniting all people around accomplishing common goals. I am confident that Delegate Ali will work hard to provide all of the residents of District 39 with a voice in Annapolis. Please join me in supporting his campaign for State Senate.

This weekend the campaign was out in full force, as Saqib joined energized groups of volunteers and voters for three house parties and our dedicated volunteers knocked on doors in the blistering heat.

I am proud and excited to support Saqib Ali in his campaign for Maryland State Senate in District 39.
Saqib has been a strong supporter of people with disabilities. I have Cerebral Palsy and receive services from a state-funded agency. In my conversations with Saqib, he has displayed a deep understanding of the issues facing my community and an intense drive to make our voices heard in Annapolis.
This past legislative session Saqib cosponsored a piece of legislation that would have greatly assisted Maryland’s disabled community. He fought for a minimal increase to the state’s alcohol tax that would have funded needed services for disabled Marylanders. Currently Maryland has a waiting list of over 20,000 individuals and families waiting for some type of disabilities services. This proposal would have moved thousands of Maryland residents off of that waiting list. While Saqib cosponsored this bill and advocated passionately for it, his opponent Senator Nancy King opposed it.
Saqib is the kind of leader who speaks out for what is right instead of just what seems politically prudent. I urge you to join me in supporting Saqib in his campaign for Maryland State Senate.

This weekend many of the Ali for Senate Campaign’s top volunteers joined forces for a volunteer training session. Community-members of all ages and backgrounds came together to learn about grassroots organizing and brainstorm ways in which our campaign can establish a meaningful presence in communities across District 39.

Today the Maryland Sierra Club, a leading environmental advocacy organization, endorsed Saqib’s candidacy for State Senate. The Sierra Club joins the Maryland League of Conservation Voters as the second environmentalist organization to support Saqib. Delegate Ali and I first connected on Facebook and upon further researching his politics and further communication with Delegate Ali and his campaign I am proud to endorse him for State Senate. Currently I’m the Assistant Personal Training Director at a local health club as well as a musician and music teacher. I hold a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Indiana University. I have many passions which include music, fitness and science. As a registered Democrat, my political views are on the progressive side.
For a general overview of my politics, I am pro-equality, pro-choice, pro-education, pro-energy independence and believe access to quality health care is a fundamental human right. Due to my work in the fitness industry and my own experiences, I believe that a healthier society is a more productive society, and I believe quality public education is essential to the aforementioned idea. I believe Saqib is the progressive voice that District 39 needs and deserves in the upper chamber of the Maryland legislature.

This weekend the Ali for Senate campaign office was full as activity as a team of dedicated volunteers worked to make the “All Ali District 39 Weekend” a success. It was inspiring to see so many people come out to help Saqib make phone calls and knock on doors. Together we ensured that voters in every corner of District 39 heard Saqib’s positive, progressive vision for the future of Maryland.

Saqib has always been a proud supporter of students’ rights. In Annapolis he has fought to give students a voice in the General Assembly and on the campaign trail Saqib has worked to make youth an integral part of his grassroots organization. For this reason, I am proud to announce that Saqib has received the endorsement of the Montgomery County Youth Slate.
The Montgomery County Youth Slate is a coalition of youth activists from the County who will work to organize students at a grassroots level on behalf of progressive campaigns. Today the Maryland League of Conservation Voters announced their endorsement of Saqib in his race for State Senate. Saqib has always been a passionate advocate for environmental stewardship. For this reason the League of Conservation Voters rewarded him with an 100% on their legislative scorecard, as compared to his opponent’s score of 60% (for the 2010 legislative session).
The League of Conservation Voters endorsement reaffirms Saqib’s position as the only authentic Democrat in this race. As your state senator Saqib will fight for the Democratic values that we hold dear, such as providing for a cleaner and greener Maryland.
