This morning, Saqib debated Nancy King on News Channel 8′s “News Talk” with Bruce DePuyt.  As always Saqib stood up for our interests over special interests.  Watch the video clip below and see for yourself!

I recently met Saqib Ali when he personally came to my house to introduce himself.  I knew a little about Saqib prior to this through my 22 year old son Sean, who just graduated Towson with a Political Science major.  At the age of 18, Sean was following Saqib and was  impressed with him.   After a little research, I agree with my son, I am also very impressed with Saqib.  He fights for the average citizen of District 39, in a very down-to-earth, personal way.

The majority of Saqib’s campaign funding is from individuals, not from special interest groups. He supports full marital rights for same sex couples. He fights for the student members of the Maryland Board of Education. He works to protect the Chesapeake Bay by proposing stronger controls on pollutants that may be released into the water. These are just a few of the many reasons to believe that Saqib has our best interests at heart. I chose to volunteer, then met and began working with some of his staff and volunteers. I was truly impressed by the enthusiam shared by this group of supporters. I am very proud to share in this campaign to elect Saqib Ali to the State Senate.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY HISPANIC DEMOCRATIC CLUB ENDORSES ALI FOR SENATE

Hispanic Democrats Cite Challenger Ali’s Commitment to Immigrant Rights and Quality Education

(GAITHERSBURG, MD)- The Montgomery County Hispanic Democratic Club has announced their endorsement of Delegate Saqib Ali in his campaign for Maryland State Senate in District 39. The Club’s president, Oscar Ramirez, cited Ali’s commitment to diversity, immigrant rights, and quality education.

“Saqib will be a strong ally of the Hispanic community in our State Senate. He understands that a diverse Maryland is a strong Maryland. Saqib will fight to ensure that immigrants in our state are treated justly and that all Marylanders enjoy access to a world-class education,” said Ramirez.

In the House of Delegates Ali has spoken out against a proposal to divert public funding to private, religious schools. He has also consistently opposed all forms of racial profiling and promoted mass transit solutions that extend further mobility to Marylanders of all backgrounds.

“As the son of immigrants, I believe strongly that Maryland needs to welcome all Americans, regardless of their date of arrival in our great country. We must do so not only because it’s the right thing to do, but because it will help power our state’s economy,” said Ali. “I am humbled to have the support of the Hispanic Democratic Club. If elected I look forwarding to working with them to promote our public school system and protect the rights of all Marylanders.”

Ali, who lives in Gaithersburg, was elected to the Maryland House of Delegates in 2006 and represents Maryland’s 39th Legislative District, which includes Washington Grove and parts of Gaithersburg, Germantown, North Potomac, Montgomery Village and Derwood. In the private sector, he works as a software engineer. Ali received a Bachelors and Masters Degree from University of Maryland College Park in computer science. Ali and his wife Susan are proud parents of two young daughters, Sofia and Sascha. You can learn more about Ali and his campaign by visiting www.Ali4Senate.com.
